Will you be ready for the next Gnome Convention on Australia Day in 2010? You have heaps of time to make or paint up your own special gnome and perhaps be a lucky prize winner.
What a fantastic effort from all the sponsors and the workers and those who simply came along and joined in. It was great!
See you soon

What a wonderful day we had! The weather was kind, the entertainers were amazing, the people were happpy - and generous too - there were more gnomes than ever (visit http://australiangnomeconvention.com.au and follow the link to the 5th Australian Gnome Convention)
Once again The Springwood Dog Training School put on 2 fantastic displays - don't we just love the dogs! The Didgeridu band also gave two shows - how amazing are those didjeridus! Don Morrison was his normal delightful self, playing those old favourites to the crowds all day. Side by Side - a new group to us - came all the way from Perth - by car no less - and weren't they just the best! Morgan Roberts, Welsh Tenor was wonderful - and these were just the people on the stage I managed - I know the other stage was equally full of amazing people singing, playing, dancing and generally entertaining us all. Thankyou to all of you.
The gnomes had their own train this year, courtesty of Plains, Trains and Automobiles from Mount Victoria - thanks you for those - and Go Enviro set up the Gnome display in their normal superb fashion.
And there were the pony rides, the petting animals, Thomas the tank engine and friend, that old favourite the jumping castle - what more could a little kid (or a big kid) ask for! And heaps of great stalls - the wine and food tasting - lots to see and lots to do!
There is always much work going on behind the scenes as those lovely Rotary people volunteer their time to ensure this is a great day for the mountains - Frank Behl who organised the stalls, Christine Behl who liaised with BMCC, Geoff Hawken who put things up and took things down, Terry Marshall who set out the ground, and made those gateway arches, Christine Shearstone with our own Rotary Barbecue, Kathy Powell, entertainments manager, Geoff Vallance who organised the first (but not the last) wine and beer tastings, Roger Winterburn, Australia Day Treasurer, and organiser, David Cook Gnome Master extraordinaire who not only displayed but also collected gnomes for people who were unable to transport the littler fellers themselves, and Carolyn Cook, who runs the littlies entertainment for the day, Del Jeal who designed the myriad of brochures, posters and such-like and not to forget Bob Jeal the Chairman who coordinatd it all. And, along with every member of the Rotary club of Lower Blue Mountains, their partners, friends, and everyone else who could be 'volunteered'.
Thanks everyone! |
