WHO ARE WE?

Western Sydney Tenants' Service (WESTS) is an independent advice and advocacy service for tenants.

It was set up in 1990 and is a project of the Board of Social Responsibility of the Uniting Church in Australia (NSW Synod).

WESTS is now one of 12 independent services around NSW funded through the State Government's Office of Real Estate Services. It also gets some extra funding from the Uniting Church.

WHAT DO WE DO?

You know you have to return the condition report
to the landlord within 7 days with your changes.

WESTS exists to make sure tenants know their rights, and how to go about getting them.
We give advice to tenants and act on their behalf.
We advise tenants on issues like:
*Eviction
*Repairs
*Bond disputes
*Locks and Security
*Right to privacy
*Residential tenancy agreements
*Going to the Residential Tenancies Tribunal
*And many others.

We give written information to tenants, like tenancy fact-sheets and booklets.
We also run information sessions understanding tenancy law and how to use it.
We don't charge tenants for any help we might give.
Wee train community workers and services involved in tenancy issues.
We try to help reform residential tenancy law and push for fair and just housing policy for low income earners.
