They write all their own material, and are particularly interested in songs about. the Blue Mountains and Australia generally, as well as historical legends and cultural stories. Den Fenella are primarily a vocal group, known for their unusual beautiful tunes and. Harmonies They first performed in 1995 and have since played at venues such as: The Blue Mountains Folk Festival, The Nepean Community College Anthology; Lunch, Hopewood Health Retreat, The Gulgong Folk Festival and the Loaded Dog Folk Club in Sydney. The members of Den Fenella, Gary Stowe, Cassandra Hawkins, Theresa West and Dawn Meredith Hort all reside in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia.. The name "Den Fenella" comes from a scenic bush walk in the Blue Mountains and has been traced further back to Scotland, where it is said that a Lady Fenella plotted to kill the king in revenge for murdering her son. |
