About Julie
My name is Julie Iles. I am a Paralympian having competed at the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games. I compete in Class F40 in discus, javelin and shot put. I have been competing in sports for many years and my first international competition was at the 1991 Dwarf Nationals in USA where I competed as a swimmer. In 1993 I made a decision to move across to athletics.
1991 Competed at the Dwarf Nationals, Texas USA.
1993 USA Dwarf Athletics Association held the first Dwarf World Games. I competed at these games, in swimming and athletics. After these games I made a decision to be a thrower. My events are Javelin, Shot Put, and Discus.
1998 World Disabled Games, Birmingham UK. My disability was included at these games for the first time. This was the start of my athletics career.
1999 ISOD World Disabled Games in Barcelona.
2000 My disability was not selected for the Sydney Paralympics Games.
2002 World Disabled Games in France.
2004 Paralympics Games, in Athens
2005 Paralympic World Cup, in Manchester
2005 European Championships in Finland
2008 Selected on the Shadow Squad for Beijing Paralympic Team
